Celebrity steak chef Salt Bae has astonished critics after sharing an absurd £85,000 bill from his Dubai restaurant - showing a customer spent £56,000 on wine alone.

Nusret Gökçe, 40, known for his eccentric style of preparing and seasoning meat, posted the receipt dated January 20 on Instagram for his 54 million followers.

'Money comes, money goes,' he wrote, showing how the wealthy clients spent £60 on a beef carpaccio, £3,300 on three steaks and £240 on a golden filet mignon.

The post sparked backlash from commentators who felt the flex was an insult as ordinary Turks contest with more than 60 per cent inflation and 10 per cent unemployment rates.

One Instagram comment by 'cheftoniringgold' said: 'This is a case when people have more money than common sense.'

Another from 'porkys_bar_cornetto' said: 'My carpenter can cook better.'

And Turkish newspaper Yenicag accused Salt Bae of flaunting his wealth as 'citizens struggle to make ends meet with a three cent minimum wage.'

Four patrons, who have not been named, managed to rack up a bill equivalent to £85,300 in just two hours and forty minutes at Salt Bae's Nusret Restaurant - apparently named after himself.

According to the receipt, they washed down the meat feast with four Porn Star Martinis for AED 480 (£100), two bottles of Chateau Petrus 2009 for AED 198,000 (£42,300) and one bottle of Petrus 2011 priced at AED 65,000 (£14,000), among other luxury items.

They finished off the meal with a round of doubles of exclusive Louis XIII cognac for AED 27,500 (£5,884.95).

The bill includes a seven per cent service charge, but the guests were happy to contribute AED 90,000 (£19,260) in tips, the record shows.

But it was Salt Bae's blatant brag that brought a flood of protest from local and social media.

One X, formerly Twitter, commented on the receipt: 'Obscene and sad'.

On Instagram, the post was just as divisive.

Chefkelvin wrote: 'Imagine being this wealthy and blowing it on food that isn't worth it...'

Yasrecber weighed in: 'Shameful as millions of people suffer from hunger.'

User amanjismael said: 'That would [have] fed at least 100,000 children in hunger around the world. How embarassing.'

Artist Sabrina Terrence wrote: 'Sorry, such a waste of money. It would be nicer if at least 50 per cent goes to charity, Yemen, Gaza etc.'

Another user wrote: 'While all the kids in Gaza starve, you charge people absurd amounts to eat your mediocre, overpriced food'.

The chef was shamed in 2022 when he gatecrashed the World Cup final pitch in Qatar so he could be snapped with the trophy Argentina had just won.

At the time he claimed: 'I love Argentina. lived there for a while. I went to the match to support them.'

But after facing tremendous backlash, the 40-year-old added: 'Most of the team came to my restaurant, I didn't feel like a stranger.

'That moment was a very special moment. I can't do anything about what happened there, but I will never, ever step foot on a World Cup pitch again!'
