One person has been detained in the shooting of a man in Indianapolis, who was the former partner of a TikTok star.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) said in a press release to PEOPLE that officers responded to a home located on the 5900 block of Riva Ridge Drive, near South Arlington Avenue and Thompson Road at around 6 a.m. local time on Monday and located a male with gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The IMPD further explained that while the incident was initially reported as a self-inflicted shooting, upon further investigation, they determined that his wounds were “not self-inflicted” and instead classified it as a homicide.

“One person has been detained and IMPD is not actively looking for any additional people. Investigators believe all involved parties have been identified," the department continued in their statement.

The IMPD said that it will continue to investigate this case as the Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) determines the exact cause and manner of the man’s death.

While the IMPD did not name the man in their news release, the Indy Star and local news station WTHR reported his identity to be 36-year-old Devin Williams.

Williams’ friend Brandon Melendez described him to the Indy Star as someone who enjoyed mixed martial arts and basketball and was also involved in the local boxing community.

Williams is also the former partner of TikTok star Kelsey Pumel, who creates social media videos on her popular channel “Growingwithkelsey” which has amassed over 2.5 million followers, per the outlet. The social media star, who shares a daughter named Kobe with Williams, alluded to his death in a recent TikTok post.

“Kobe’s dad died, so we’ve had a bit of a rough day,” Pumel tearfully said in the TikTok video. “I’m not ready to speak on what happened. I am currently in the anger phase…”

“I did everything right. I fought so hard and did everything right so [Kobe] wouldn’t have any trauma,” Pumel continued. “And [Williams] just left her with a lifetime full of it and I can’t protect her from this.”

The video went viral, garnering 8.8 million views, over 600k likes and 34.7k comments as of Thursday morning. In the caption for the video, she asked people to keep her daughter in their “thoughts and prayers” as she “works through grieving this incredible loss.”
